AIS VENETO EXCEEDS 4000 MEMBERS AND PRESENTS THE NEW COURSE CALENDAR

President Gianpaolo Breda: “Unequivocal sign of the quality of the training course. The Sommeliers of the Association are present in the most important places of excellence in our Region”.

AIS – Italian Sommelier Association of Veneto exceeds the quota of 4000 members and inaugurates a new season of training courses for aspiring Sommeliers, starting in September and October in all the provinces of the Region.

Furthermore, anyone who registers by August 20th will receive the free AISpeak short course, a lesson dedicated to technical English used in the wine world, and the volume Travel Carnet , a guide that tells the story of the Venetian territories and their protagonists, the vines and the cellars, through a narrative that interweaves stories of men and nature, culture and art, landscapes and architecture.

“We are proud to welcome over 4000 members to the ranks of our Association – explains Gianpaolo Breda , president of AIS Veneto –, a number which continues to grow year after year: an unmistakable sign that the courses offered are of undisputed quality, where it is possible to discover, thanks to the preparation of the speakers, the world that lies inside the glass. Another reason for pride for AIS Veneto is the fact that the professional Sommeliers who have grown within our Association are present in the most important contexts of haute cuisine and excellence, as well as in historic venues, in the Region and in two cities that are symbols of the the art of hospitality, Venice and Cortina. This is a real source of pride for AIS Veneto, which confirms itself as a point of reference for the diffusion of knowledge of the wine world in general and the valorisation of Venetian wines in particular”.

The first level provides a solid introduction to viticulture, oenology and service, fundamental knowledge for practicing the profession of Sommelier. The students can learn the correct temperature of the glass, acquire information on the legislation of the sector and, in addition to wine, learn the fundamentals of beers and spirits, all constantly accompanied by theoretical and practical tests on the tasting technique.

With the transition to the second level , the link between wine and the territory is deepened thanks to the study of Italian DOCG and DOC and the main foreign producers, while the constant improvement of the tasting technique becomes a discriminating element for appreciating every single nuance and expressing a professional and objective judgement.

Finally, the third level deals with the art of food-wine pairing through practical tasting tests with different types of foods and preparations. At the end of the training course, the students take a qualifying exam, following which they obtain the title of Sommelier.
