At the Foodex Japan 2025 fair in Tokyo, a seminar to explore the native ungrafted vine rediscovered and promoted by the Veronese winery.
Roeno , a winery from Brentino Belluno (Verona), debuts in Japan with enantio : on Thursday 13 March in Tokyo, during the Foodex Japan 2025 trade fair, the endemic, native and ungrafted Terradeiforti wine variety was the protagonist of a seminar that explored the qualities and distinctive elements of the vine. An in-depth study that underlined the historical importance of enantio, its connection with the territory and its potential in the international wine scene.
The interpretations of the Veronese reality – Enantio Red Point 2021 and Enantio Riserva 1865 Prefillossera 2019 – then took on the role of protagonists in a technical tasting aimed at industry operators in an authoritative and international context.
“Being able to tell Foodex Japan about the historical, oenological and cultural value of enantio makes us proud – says Martina Centa , brand manager and third generation of Roeno –. We want to be the witnesses of an incredible variety that in the 19th century was able to resist the attack of phylloxera. We set ourselves the goal of making an ancient, but at the same time contemporary and authentic vine known in Italy and abroad, which tells the story of our territory and the bond we have with it”.
Roeno began its rediscovery project twenty years ago, with the aim of preserving a vine that, thanks to the presence of sandy and siliceous soil, was able to survive a virulent species such as phylloxera. Today in Terradeiforti the company protects the centuries-old specimens of enantio and revives a variety at risk of extinction through new trajectories in the viticultural and oenological fields. The commitment in the vineyard translates into a profound wine, with character, that tells an ancient story and, at the same time, proves to be extremely modern.
Foodex Japan is the most important and long-running food & beverage fair in Japan, which confirms year after year the key role of Tokyo in the world of wine. The event, which this year reached its 50th edition, wanted to dedicate a special section to the wine sector, Foodex Wine . The event was a strategic meeting point that connected companies from all over the world and international buyers.
