For the first time in its history, the GroundUP Music Festival in Miami (defined by the New York Times as ‘ one of the 10 best music events of the decade ‘) crosses the ocean and lands in Alberobello, as the destination for its European debut, a candidate for Italian Capital of Culture 2027 with the PIETRAMADRE project, as well as being a UNESCO City since 1996 for its famous and ancient trulli, stone structures of inestimable architectural value.

The GroundUP Music Festival, produced by Bass Culture and TEMA (The European Music Agency) with the artistic direction of Michal League and Snarky Puppy , will animate Alberobello for three days with music, art and interaction. Three stages set up in the squares of the historic center (easily reachable on foot) to create a vibrant atmosphere of concerts, workshops and interactive experiences, faithful to the formula that has made the Miami edition of the GroundUp Music Festival unique in its kind for the last eight years.

The main stage, in the Villa Comunale , the beating heart of the festival, will host three concerts for each evening: Snarky Puppy (an American band led by Michael League , a 5-time Grammy Award winner) with the participation of some of the most ‘special’ Italian musicians, and two other shows by international artists. What makes GroundUP Music Festival a unique musical event is the interaction with the public. ‘ For this reason – explains Valeria Sabatelli , Councilor for Culture – we will have two additional stages (Aia Piccola and Trullo Sovrano) for prime time concerts, each of which will host a different artist for each day with exclusive shows for VIP subscribers , who will have access to the interactive experiences (chats, interviews, workshops, masterclasses) that have made GroundUP the unique festival in the world for the last 10 years. The immersive experience can last up to 13 hours a day’.

Mayor Francesco De Carlo added ‘ as already demonstrated during international events such as the Dolce & Gabbana Haute Couture fashion show in 2023, the G7 in 2024, the first Italian start of the Giro d’Italia in May this year, the candidacy for Italian Capital of Culture 2027 , Alberobello continues to earn its primacy in the international panorama as an innovative start-up of a vast and varied territory, a cultural activator and attractor and an emerging point of reference for the education of new generations’.
