Piacenza wine and territory protagonists at the Wine Fair

From 16 to 18 November the market exhibition will be enriched with a section curated by the GAL del Ducato dedicated to truffles and local products. Entrance tickets and masterclass tickets on sale online.

More and more wine and territory at the centre of the Wine Fair , which will be held from Saturday 16th to Monday 18th November in the Piacenza Expo spaces, where the truffle , the king of autumn flavours, will be the protagonist in an exclusive area managed by the GAL del Ducato – Local Action Group . Established in 2015 to implement development initiatives in the rural and Apennine areas between the provinces of Parma and Piacenza, the GAL del Ducato will participate in the market exhibition with a program dedicated mainly to the local truffle , with a view to enhancing the territory. During the three days, the organization in collaboration with the Consulta del tartufo and the Enogastronomic Roads of Parma and Piacenza will present its actions relating to the 2023-2027 programming, with tastings paired with local wines and meetings on the cultivation and processing of this prized mushroom. The same spaces will also be used to discuss The Myth of Malvasia , an international cooperation project designed to narrate the history of Malvasia, to describe a product – aromatic Malvasia di Candia – of which the provinces of Parma and Piacenza are the world’s leading producers, describing its versatility and celebrating the work of the winemakers who produce it.

At the Wine Fair , which will see the participation of over 200 companies from all over Italy but also from abroad, you will be able to taste and buy wines, but also oil and other products resulting from the work of the land. The rich program of masterclasses , now available for online booking , will offer the opportunity to deepen your knowledge of Italian wines but not only: the tastings will allow you to explore production territories, winemaking processes and the oil supply chain, enriching the experience thanks to the guidance of experts in the wine and food sector.

The first appointment will be Saturday 16 November at 11:30 with Sweet secrets: a journey through passito wines , curated by the President of ONAV (National Organization of Wine Tasters) Vito Intini. It will be an opportunity to discover the rich variety of Italian passito wines, each characterized by production techniques and peculiarities linked to the territory of origin. At 16:00 the President of FISAR (Italian Federation of Sommeliers, Hoteliers and Restaurateurs) Roberto Donadini will lead Rossi who will tell the story of the territory: the native vines of lesser-known Italy , focused on minor grapes but capable of giving life to wines with great personality and character.

Sunday 17 November will be the turn of two appointments with Antonello Maietta, Former President of AIS (Italian Sommelier Association), journalist and food and wine popularizer. At 11:30 there will be White and Gold: whites between PIWI, native and international , an in-depth analysis with a tasting of five selected labels from Alto Adige to Sicily and a Slovenian one. In the afternoon at 16:00 there will be Sfumature effervescente : a journey through the Italy of sparkling wines , a tasting to explore the Italy of bubbles in its various facets.

The series of meetings will end at 11:30 on Monday 18 November – a day traditionally designed for sommeliers, operators and professionals – with the appointment dedicated to extra virgin olive oil and conducted by Luigi Caricato, writer, journalist and director of the magazine Olio Officina .
