The report highlights the concrete results achieved by the reality of Valdobbiadene. The guidelines of the UN Agenda 2030 dictate future strategies.
A significant step towards responsible, transparent growth in line with the principles of Agenda 2030: Val d’Oca presents its first Sustainability Report for the 2023-2024 financial year.
The document, drawn up according to the international standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and approved by the Board of Directors on Tuesday 25 March, demonstrates the commitment to three dimensions of sustainability – economic, environmental and social .
In the economic field, Val d’Oca, despite the market challenges that have put the entire sector to the test, has maintained solidity, confirming the values recorded in previous years both in terms of volume and revenue. In 2023-2024 the brand achieved a turnover of 57.6 million euros , with over 15 million bottles sold . Continuing to focus on product traceability and safety, high quality standards have been guaranteed and the presence on international markets has been strengthened, with sales in 61 countries, including the United States, Switzerland and Norway.
Val d’Oca has achieved a reduction in CO 2 emissions of 6.8% thanks to its photovoltaic system, which has generated 12,512 kWh of clean energy, and the use of cardboard packaging and FSC or PEFC certified labels. Over 90% of the bottle supply is entrusted to suppliers who guarantee a percentage of recycled glass in their products, which can reach up to 95%. The Valdobbiadene company has also made its bottles lighter and adopted less heavy cardboard , allowing for an annual saving of 214 tons of glass and 39 tons of paper .
The commitment has also extended to the social sphere with the creation of new employment opportunities and an investment in training : the total number of collaborators has reached 24 units, with an increase of 16.4% compared to the previous year. At the same time, Val d’Oca has paid great attention to the promotion of the territory and its excellence through hospitality and targeted communication initiatives, aimed at strengthening the bond with the local community, as well as enhancing the wine and landscape heritage of the Valdobbiadene Hills.
“This Report represents an important step for Val d’Oca, a document that confirms our concrete commitment to the territory, our collaborators and consumers to guarantee sustainability in commercial activity – declares Francesco Gatto , President of Val d’Oca –. It is published as a report for the 2023-2024 social year, but it is actually the result of much longer work that originates from the path shared by Val D’Oca with Cantina Produttori di Valdobbiadene. Thanks to this tool we want to guarantee, with measurable and transparent actions, growth that respects the environment and protects our community”.
Looking to the future, Val d’Oca aims to increasingly align itself with the sustainable development goals of the UN Agenda 2030. Priorities for the coming years include the optimization of energy resources, innovation and maintenance of production processes through reduced environmental impact and the adoption of a responsible approach, and the fight against climate change by containing greenhouse gas emissions.
