There are 2 buildings. The complex on the left in the photo (further down) consists of the tasting area and the cellar. The one on the right, with the blue door, is instead intended for the warehouse area, garage for machinery, offices and an apartment on the first floor.
Between the two buildings there is the installation of the artist Croce Taravella, who wanted to reproduce several bottles that emerge from the earth and only one upright: the first bottle produced by the Rizzuto family. Below are two images of the artist at work during the installation.
The territory between the Torresalsa, Foce del Platani and Laghetto Gorgo nature reserves is dedicated to quality productions and the farm, which has been present for generations in the agricultural territory of Agrigento, is located in this strip of land a few km from the sea.
Although the family boasts a past of farmers who have always dedicated themselves with love and commitment to the lands of Piconello, the entry into the wine market took place only in 2003 with IBISCO, the first bottled wine. During the 2005 campaign, the conversion process started about ten years earlier ends. Today the company owns vineyards for about 20 hectares and cultivates the grapes that are best expressed in that territory with the most appropriate systems depending on the variety.
All wines, in addition to being characterized by a great care that follows the entire winemaking process, have an interesting peculiarity: their close link with art. The labels chosen for the bottles, in fact, recall the paintings of internationally renowned painters: Piero Guccione, Mary Bauermeinster, Franco Sarnari and Croce Taravella … ” The products, today more than ever, confirm that union with the art we cultivate and we love: the same one that reigns in the vineyards of our farm, Piconello “.
